Peer Review Policy

Global Perspectives in Education and Learning (GPEL) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, integrity, and academic validity of all published research. This process is designed to maintain fairness, eliminate bias, and uphold the highest standards of scholarly publishing.

1. Review Model

GPEL employs a double-blind peer review system, in which:

  • The identities of authors are hidden from reviewers
  • The identities of reviewers are hidden from authors

This ensures an unbiased evaluation based solely on the academic quality, originality, and relevance of the manuscript.

2. Initial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Basic academic quality and structure
  • Plagiarism check and similarity index compliance
  • Ethical and formatting requirements

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected at the desk review stage without external review.

3. Review Process

Manuscripts that pass initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and novelty of research
  • Methodological rigor and validity
  • Clarity of presentation and structure
  • Contribution to the field of education
  • Accuracy of data analysis and interpretation
  • Quality of references and academic integrity

Based on reviewers’ feedback, the editorial team makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revisions
  • Major Revisions
  • Reject

4. Review Timeline

GPEL is committed to an efficient and timely review process. The average review time is typically:

  • 2 to 4 weeks for initial review feedback
  • Additional time may be required for revisions depending on author response

5. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and professional feedback
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts
  • Identify relevant literature not cited by the authors
  • Report any ethical concerns, plagiarism, or duplication
  • Avoid conflicts of interest and decline review if necessary

6. Editorial Decision

Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or handling editor, based on reviewer recommendations and editorial assessment. The editorial decision is final and aims to ensure fairness, quality, and academic integrity.

7. Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. No part of the manuscript will be disclosed or used for personal advantage by editors or reviewers.

8. Commitment to Fairness

GPEL is committed to ensuring that every submission is evaluated solely on its scholarly merit, without discrimination based on nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, or personal background.
