Confidentiality Protocols

Maintaining strict confidentiality is fundamental to the ethical integrity of the editorial process at GPEL. These protocols ensure the secure handling of educational research and participant data throughout the editorial lifecycle.

1. Confidentiality of Manuscripts

  • For Editors: Manuscripts are privileged materials. Editors must not disclose or use unpublished data—especially sensitive student or institutional information—for personal benefit.

  • For Reviewers: Manuscripts are confidential intellectual property. Reviewers may not discuss content with colleagues without written editorial authorization.

  • For Staff: Access is restricted to designated personnel using password-protected systems.

2. The Peer Review Process

  • Double-Blind Model: Author and reviewer identities are concealed to ensure impartiality. Editors must ensure that metadata in files does not reveal identities.

  • Reviewer Anonymity: Reviewer identities are strictly confidential and remain undisclosed indefinitely.

3. Data Protection and Secure Storage

  • Secure Handling: Files must be stored on encrypted devices. Sharing files outside the editorial management system is prohibited.

  • Post-Decision: Materials from rejected manuscripts must be deleted in accordance with data retention policies.

4. Breaches: Violations may result in removal from the editorial board and notification of the affiliated institution.
