Correction & Retraction Policy

Global Perspectives in Education and Learning (GPEL) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal ensures that all published content remains trustworthy, particularly in areas that contribute to educational research and policy development.

In cases where errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, GPEL follows a transparent and structured process in line with international publishing standards.

1. Correction Policy

GPEL issues formal corrections when errors are identified in a published article that may affect clarity, interpretation, or accuracy but do not invalidate the overall findings.

Corrections are categorized as follows:

  • Erratum: Issued for errors introduced during the publication process, such as formatting issues, typographical mistakes, or metadata inaccuracies that do not affect the study’s conclusions.
  • Corrigendum: Issued when authors identify errors in their published work, including issues related to data, analysis, or interpretation that may influence understanding but do not compromise the validity of the research.

Procedure:
All reported errors are carefully reviewed by the editorial team. If necessary, a formal correction notice is published and permanently linked to the original article in all online records and indexing systems to ensure transparency.

2. Retraction Policy

GPEL issues retractions in cases where the integrity or validity of a published article is significantly compromised.

Retractions may occur due to:

  • Research Misconduct: Including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or unethical research practices
  • Ethical Violations: Such as lack of required ethical approval, improper consent, or undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Severe Methodological Errors: Fundamental flaws that render the findings unreliable or invalid

Process:
Retraction decisions are made following a thorough investigation and in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Authors may be contacted for clarification during this process.

Retracted articles will remain publicly accessible for transparency but will be clearly marked as “RETRACTED” on all versions of the publication.

3. Transparency and Integrity Commitment

GPEL ensures that all post-publication changes are documented transparently. Any correction or retraction is permanently linked to the original article to maintain the integrity of the academic record and to support responsible scholarly communication.
