Plagiarism Policy

Trauma and Psychological Therapies (TPT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing. The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, ensuring that all published work reflects genuine and properly attributed scholarly contribution.

Plagiarism, whether intentional or unintentional, is considered a serious breach of academic ethics and includes the use of another individual’s ideas, text, data, or research findings without appropriate acknowledgment.

Similarity Screening Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using reliable plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin) prior to the peer review process.

  • Maximum acceptable similarity index: 10%
  • Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be:
    • Returned to authors for revision, or
    • Rejected depending on the level and nature of similarity

Authors are strongly encouraged to ensure proper citation and referencing of all sources to maintain academic integrity.

Forms of Plagiarism

TPT strictly monitors and does not accept the following practices:

  • Direct plagiarism (copying text without citation)
  • Self-plagiarism (reuse of previously published work without disclosure)
  • Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism
  • Improper paraphrasing without proper attribution
  • Missing or incorrect citations
  • Duplication of data, figures, or images without permission
  • Submission of non-original or AI-generated content as human-authored work

AI-Generated Content Policy

The use of artificial intelligence tools to generate substantial portions of manuscript content is strongly discouraged. Submissions must reflect original human intellectual work.

  • AI tools may be used only for minor language editing or formatting assistance
  • Manuscripts containing significant AI-generated content without proper disclosure may be rejected at any stage, including after acceptance

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or unethical practices are detected:

  • Before publication: Immediate rejection of the manuscript
  • After publication: Retraction of the article with formal notice
  • Additional actions may include:
    • Restriction or ban on future submissions
    • Notification to affiliated institutions in serious cases

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and proper acknowledgment of all sources. By submitting to TPT, authors confirm that their manuscript is free from plagiarism and complies with the journal’s ethical standards.
