Plagiarism Policy

Climate Crises and Environment (CCE) is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing. The journal follows a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism in all forms, ensuring that only original and properly attributed research is published.

Plagiarism is considered a serious violation of academic ethics and includes the use of another author’s ideas, text, data, figures, or findings without proper acknowledgment. This applies to all forms of content, including written material, tables, graphs, and conceptual frameworks.

Similarity Screening Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using advanced plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin) prior to the peer review process.

  • Maximum acceptable similarity index: 10%
  • Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be:
    • Returned for revision, or
    • Rejected depending on the level and nature of overlap

The journal strongly emphasizes originality and expects authors to ensure proper citation of all sources used in their work.

Forms of Plagiarism

CCE does not tolerate the following practices:

  • Direct plagiarism (copying text without citation)
  • Self-plagiarism (reuse of own published work without disclosure)
  • Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism
  • Improper paraphrasing without acknowledgment
  • Missing or incorrect citations
  • Data or figure duplication without permission
  • AI-generated content presented as original human work

AI-Generated Content Policy

The use of AI tools to generate manuscript content is strictly discouraged. Submissions must represent original human scholarly work.

  • AI tools may be used only for basic language assistance (if necessary)
  • Any manuscript found to contain substantial AI-generated content without disclosure may be rejected at any stage, including post-acceptance

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or unethical practices are detected:

  • Before publication: Immediate rejection of the manuscript
  • After publication: Retraction of the article with formal notice
  • Additional actions may include:
    • Ban on future submissions
    • Notification to affiliated institutions in serious cases

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of their work, proper citation of sources, and compliance with ethical publishing standards. By submitting to CCE, authors confirm that their manuscript is free from plagiarism and adheres to the journal’s academic integrity policy.
